Glasses, Contacts, or Lasik Eye Surgery Are Options For Improving Eye Sight

Almost 3 out of every 4 adults in the United States uses some kind of vision correction. Today, Americans are lucky enough to have a couple different choices in vision correction. The number of choices available and the quality of products available are all much better than they used to be. All these choices do come with their own set of pros and cons though.

Contacts, for one, have become a very popular choice for many in the recent years. With all the limits that glasses have, it is obvious why so many people choose contacts for their everyday eyewear. For example, contacts can be worn for a variety of activities that might not be a good idea with regular glasses. Contact sports risk knocking glasses to the ground to get trampled and broken. Even if breaking isn’t a concern, glasses can be affected by rain or humidity that can make it hard to see. Contacts, on the other hand, can be a great choice for many active people, since they can be worn during a variety of activities and in various weather conditions without needing special attention.

With the right contacts, someone can put them in at the beginning of the day and not have to worry about them until they are ready for bed. Glasses are not always like that. Glasses need to be cleaned to remove water droplets, dust, and finger prints. If glasses get scratched or bent out of place, this can cause an annoyance to the wearer every single day until they can be repaired or replaced. Typically, if someone is having issues with their contacts, it can be a faster fix; they can just go put in a new pair.

Replace your glasses with laser eye surgery

Contacts do have a down side though. During allergy season, super dry weather, or even some sicknesses, contacts can be a big nuisance. They can burn, itch, and cause constant irritation. This cannot always be fixed with eye drops, allergy medicine, or switching to a new set of contacts. Persistent eye rubbing can rip contacts or cause them to fall out. Finding a clear, little contact on the ground is difficult as it is, but when your vision is impaired without the aid of both your contacts, this can quickly turn into a helpless cause. If you are away from home and do not have a backup set of contacts, have cleaning solution for your contacts, or have a pair of glasses nearby, this can complicate your day. This might mean not be able to drive home safely or fully be able to participate in school or work.

A third option is available to those that qualify, and it allows the regular inconveniences of being dependent on glasses or contacts to become a nonissue. This option is Lasik Eye Surgery. All surgeries have risks, or course, but today’s procedure is very safe and low risk. The quick surgery can make the use of regular, everyday eyewear unnecessary. With Lasik, most people can return back to work the next day without the aid of their old glasses or contacts. There are factors that can make it so some people are not the right candidates, but the only way to know if this is the right option for you is to talk to professionals, like those at the Mile High Eye Institute. If you do qualify, you could be right around the corner from being able to toss your glasses or contacts into the trash.
